The Sounds of Summer

The swish of the mower blades in the early morning; the gentle click of woods against each other; the polite applause after a super shot, of

groans after a lucky ‘wick’; the chatter of comradeship after a hard-fought match; the clink of teacups or glass of foaming beer. Yes, we

have all missed that. And yes, after a long year, Maulden Bowls Club is open again!

What you may have ‘missed however, were the sounds of the total refurbishment of the club house and green. During the year we have

re-decorated, re-furbished and just about re-everythinged everything!

Sponsors have been-secured and as a result sixteen local companies have pledged their ongoing sponsorship of the club including “Hillsons”,

Michael Hillson is our ‘club president and we are grateful for his companies support. Their boards are displayed at the scoreboard end

of the green. The sponsor boards and newly designed Honours Boards were manufactured by Liquid Design from Maulden, keeping up the

community involvement.

Some of you may have read in Ron Garner’s previous articles in the Maulden Magazine, or heard on the grapevine, that we are still in the

running to be selected to be a host training base" for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. With one of the finest greens and facilities in

Bedfordshire, we believe we have a chance on that one. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Why not pop over and see what we have done for yourselves, or, better still, try your hand at bowls. New members are most welcome.

We are a friendly bunch and we have a number of qualified coaches on hand.
